kyte on demand car rentals - they come to you!

What is more convenient than a car rental company that brings the car to you?

I frequently visit LA and love to use kyte for my rentals because I often don’t need a car for the entirety of my trip, but also don’t want to have to transit back to the airport to pick up a car. They offer the ability to have a car delivered to your hotel and either picked up back from your hotel, the airport, or anywhere else, without the huge premium that large car rental companies charge for one way rentals.

You can cancel your kyte up to 48 hours before delivery with no penalty and within 24 hours for kyte credit (tip/hack: I’ve found that any time prior to your scheduled pickup, you can modify your trip to a later date, then cancel it and get a refund).

I’ve only had positive experiences with kyte. My “surfer” on both ends has always on time, the car has been clean and new, and the handoff has been quick and easy. If you return to LAX, their return point is offsite but they sponsor an uber to drop you off at the airport.

Insurance Coverage

I confirmed with my credit card (Chase Sapphire Reserve) that their primary coverage for the car would apply to a kyte rental, but would not apply to a peer-to-peer rental company like turo. Like all rentals, your normal car insurance will cover liability, but if you don’t have any coverage you’ll need to buy it at least the minimum legal required coverage in the state you are renting from. I usually use rental cover as it offers the most coverage ($1 million) for less than $20 a day.

Booking your kyte

Kyte has an app to manage your car rental (it is helpful because you can see real time where your kyte “surfer” is) but you can also book on their website. Save $30 on your kyte rental using discount code florah

Note: If you use my referral code, I get a $30 credit also.
