Katie Austin converted me into someone who loves to work out

Katie Austin has a variety of quick and easy workouts that are also fun!

I had never consistently worked out in my life. I was the queen of excuses, citing time, money, lack of results when I had tried in the past, etc. Any time I had worked out it was cardio, usually involving lots of time spent on the elliptical machine.

Working with my parsley health coach changed all that.

My fitness goal is lower my body fat percentage while building muscle mass. Cardio, my coach told me, was just going to burn muscle, and I really had to strength train. This wasn’t necessarily new information to me. I had always known that strength training is better for your body and that it provides gains outside of the gym by increasing metabolism. But I didn’t like lifting weights and you just couldn’t get me to a gym to do it.

My health coach, knowing me and my personality recommended a few different fitness apps and instructors to test out. Katie was by and far my favorite, so I signed up for a month subscription at first. I found myself enjoying her workouts so much that I actually looked forward to going to the gym every day to lift weights. There’s a large variety of workouts, with and without weights, targeting different parts of the body. I like that she talks through most of her workouts and does them with you with music on in the background. It just motivates me more than apps that tell you how many reps to do of each motion then you have to do it on your own.

The App

I like that I can download videos to view offline, since I watch her workouts on my ipad in a gym that has free weights, but there often isn’t consistent wifi at the gym. The app can be a little buggy and the organization of the workouts could be improved, but for ~$10 a month, I am not complaining. If you upgrade from a monthly to an annual subscription it isn’t added it to the end of your current subscription, it just replaces it. I’d imagine if you buy an annual membership during a sale (she does a Black Friday sale) and you already have an annual membership, you’ll lose some months that are already paid for, so just be careful there. You can get a lot of her workouts for free on youtube if you want to check out some of her workouts before committing.

Katie Austin

I didn’t know until over a year of doing Katie’s workouts that she is an influencer of sorts and the daughter of a prolific fitness instructor, Denise Austin. She is a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and has quite a social following. Honestly if I had known all of this, it might have unfairly discredited her in my book. I do not follow her socially or care about her social media fame, I just know that she has great workouts, so maybe this should teach me a thing or two about judging a book by its cover.
