Royo Bread seems too good to be true… but it is, and it is life changing

The Royo bun is only 90 calories and has 9 grams of protein and only 7 grams of net carbs.

For someone on a high protein, low calorie diet, Royo bread is a life changer.

Products & Taste

I’m trying to lose fat and build muscle, so I’m on a low calorie, high protein diet that made eating bread difficult and bagels impossible… until I discovered Royo.

The stats are unbelievable:

  • Royo’s Artisan Bread = 30 calories, 3 grams protein, 2 grams net carbs per slice

  • Royo’s Burger Buns (pictured above) = 90 calories, 9 grams of protein, 7 grams net carbs

  • Royo’s Bagels: Plain, Everything, Cinnamon, Super Seed = 70-80 calories, 10 grams of protein, 5-6 grams net carbs

  • Royo’s Challah Rolls = 90 calories, 8 grams of protein, 4 grams net carbs

The bread needs to be refrigerated or frozen within a few days. I usually order a couple loaves of bread, the everything bagels and the buns, placing one loaf of bread in the refrigerator to be eaten over the next week, and the rest in the freezer. One thing to be careful about is toasting these products: they are much more sensitive than the bread you are accustomed to, so toast on the lightest setting or you’ll end up with a burned product like I did the first couple of times. I pop a frozen in the microwave for 30 seconds before I cut and toast it. I pop a roll in the microwave for 45 seconds and eat it warm. The bread can go directly into the toaster oven.

While I wouldn’t exactly compare the bagels to a New York bagel, it completely satisfies the bagel craving at a fraction of the calories. The buns and bread, while a bit more dry than your run of the mill bread product are a bit closer to the real thing. They are a bit more crumbly (as you can see from the photo above), so just make sure to eat over a plate. I used to eat Ezekial bread (which has higher calorie : protein ratio), and I find Royo’s bread to be fluffier and more enjoyable.

Great Customer Service

This is a small, family owned business. It seems to be a relatively new business and they are still gathering feedback, so do expect a personal reach out to see how you are liking the product. When my first order got delayed in the mail and came a few days late they offered to send me a replacement, but I declined as the bread still seemed to be fresh enough and I didn’t want to hurt the margins of a small business.

Pricing

Royo isn’t cheap (between $9 and $12 per item) but trust me when I tell you that it’s worth it. It’s like magic if you are on a Keto, low calorie, high protein or high fiber diet. and despite my initial hesitation around pricing, now that I’ve tried it, I’d honestly be willing to pay a lot more.

Purchasing Royo

The easiest way to purchase Royo is directly on their website. There are some stores in New York, New Jersey, Florida, California, Texas, and Illinois that carry it but the stores in New York City seem to always be sold out (a telltale sign of the popularity of this product!). It is baked fresh daily in Brooklyn, but unfortunately there isn’t an option to pick it up. There is a $25 order minimum on their website and there doesn’t seem to be any way to avoid paying for shipping. But you can get 20% by purchasing here.

Note: I get a small discount for each purchase made using my referral link above.
